Water Filter Installation at STNM Hospital

SAFE DRINKING WATER PROJECT OF ROTARY CLUB OF GANGTOK
The Rotary Club of Gangtok inaugurated and handed over drinking water facility to the authorities of STNM Hospital under the SAFE DRINKING WATER PROJECT on 11th Sept., 2014. Safe drinking water has always been a long pending requirement of STNM Hospital as no such facility existed there till date. The project was supported by district grant of Rotary International District 3240. The facility was inaugurated by Dr. Yogesh Verma, Medical Superintendent of STNM Hospital. The facility has been set up with financial cost of Rs. 1.35 lakhs approximately. The club has been actively involved in various projects like maintaining paediatric ward, gifting of toys, infrastructure development, polio eradication awareness board display etc at STNM Hospital. The club has also agreed to do more projects at STNM Hospital in future as per requirement.
Charter Night Celebration

The club celebrated its 46th charter night on 22nd August 2014 at Hotel Norkhill where the club meets every working Friday.
On the occasion, the club felicitated the manager, staff, waiter, chef of the hotel. The staff of the Hotel Norkhill were given a token gift and a certificate.
The club also felicitated Rtn. Dr. H. P. Marda who has devoted his four decades (40 years) in Rotary serving needy selflessly. He is the senior most Rotarian in Sikkim including both the clubs. The members had a nice and memorable fellowship evening.

ROTARY CLUB OF GANGTOK’S ANNA DAN
On the 1st July, the first day of new Rotary year, Rotary Club of Gangtok embarked on a project called “ANNA DANâ€. Members of Rotary Club of Gangtok went to a Ranipool based old age Home and donated various grocery items for the use of 15 inmates in the facility.
It was pledged by the presidents of all the 73 Rotary clubs in the Rotary district 3240 to begin the new Rotary year with Anna Dan which would be a gesture of Rotary’s service towards the society.

SHANTI-STHAL AT RANIPOOL
Shanti Sthal at Ranipool was conceived in the Rotary year 1992-93 and work was commenced in the same year after obtaining permission from State Government and Forest Department, Govt. of Sikkim. The final expenditure was about Rs.4.00 lacs only at that time. The most commendable work was done by ex-Rtn Birender Singh Dhunna supported by other Rotarians of the Club. The supervisory and field work was carried out by Late Nuni Mazumdar ‘ Nuni Babu’. Finally it was handed over to Urban Development and Housing Department, Government of Sikkim and is being looked after by them.
